With this being the first of its kind for an OD event, I was walking up the stairs of Adam's Court not really knowing what to expect. However, within seconds of entry we were welcomed with a fantastic spread of food/drink and a bustling bar all filled with ODs.
I very much enjoyed reminiscing about 'the good old days' (can't believe I am saying that after only leaving in 2011) with friends, however it was equally lovely meeting ODs I had not come across before - both young and older than myself. I was very impressed with the networking skills of the younger ODs and passed on my details to 2 bright young sparks who were interested in a career in Investment Management, and we have had dialogue ever since!
The shared commonality of all being ODs created a very easy and friendly setting to chat the night away, and always helps when there are a couple of beers involved too! Whether it is to catch up with old buddies, or a much more informal/comfortable setting to network with people you may well not have come across if it wasn't for Denstone, then I would definitely pop along to the next London OD drinks.
I heard Birmingham drinks were also a huge success, with over 40 ODs coming together at The Old Joint Stock for our second informal drinks event. Many thanks to Jon Ward and David Farrow for sourcing a fantastic venue and promoting the event. Our next stop is in Manchester at the Banyan Bar on 18th May. Tickets are just £15 and can be booked here. There is no dress code and partners are most welcome.
