Looking to the future
Canon Nathaniel Woodard founded Denstone College in 1868. In 1873 the College welcomed it's first pupils, 46 boys attended and it was over 100 years later before the College became co-educational with the arrival of girls. It is because of this gift that thousands of Old Denstonians have journeyed up the hill and through the gate posts, met by the breathtaking College and grounds.
A Denstone education means different things to different people and over time, we have evolved into the community that we are today.
Our 150th anniversary is a milestone but in reality, it's the everyday changes being made that will shape the future. Some of these changes include the opening of The Prep, marking our transition to a through school, bringing with it an environment that fosters creative thinking and encourages exploration of new ideas.
The College now boasts an impressive athletic development centre, further strengthening our sports provision. Hartley House, named rightly after Mr James Hartley, is our first step into junior boarding and one that has been welcomed by our College community.
Next year we are delighted to provide a permanent home for the Denstone archives and on the Saturday 24th June, The Heritage Centre will open its doors. This hub of history will be available to view during Café opening hours, and also by private appointment with the Development Office. Please get in touch for more information.
These are some of the many changes at College over the past two years, and it doesn't stop there. We have audacious plans for the future and we look forward to sharing our vision with you in 2023. There has never been a more exciting time to be part of our thriving community!
