THE 2023 R STATHAM CRICKET FESTIVAL
Widening access to cricket for all.
Denstone College is proud to be part of a global movement to widen access to cricket through our outreach programme lead by Head of Partnerships, Chris Farman and Director of Cricket, Paul Borrington. Our team work with local primary schools to provide access to resources including first class coaching and outstanding facilities. This year saw the launch of a cricket festival for local primary schools. Each school was able to compete in the tournament, and also received a cricket set to allow play to continue when back at their respective schools.
Old Denstonian, Richard Statham, generously supported this year's festival with a donation that covered the costs of the festival, including the cricket equipment donated to local schools.
We hope to double the number of primary schools that participate in the annual festival, ensuring that we are widening access to the game for young people, regardless of gender, race, or background.
