Exams
Upper Sixth and Fifth Form
Public examinations for Fifth Form and Upper Sixth candidates will take place in the Summer term. Dates for these exams are still provisional and all students will be provided with an individual exams timetable once our GCSE and A level entries have been confirmed in the Lent term. Sixth Form students studying BTEC Sport and CTEC ICT will also have public exams at other points in the year, with dates to be confirmed by those departments in due course.
Our Fifth Form Practice Examinations (called ‘mock exams’ by many) will take place in March, with students off timetabled lessons for one week whilst completing these exams.
Upper Sixth exams take place in early Michaelmas term, with many departments staging further practice exams in the Lent and early Summer term before students leave for Study Leave. Arrangements for these exams will be communicated by departments as the year progresses.
Exams - Other Years
Our Lower School pupils (First, Second and Third Form) will sit ‘Michaelmas assessments’ in the week commencing Monday 13th November. These are essentially a series of tests in core subjects only (Maths, English and Science) and are staged in lessons during that week. Summer exams for these year groups will take place towards the end of the Summer term, with other tests and assessments being staged within lesson time for various subjects through the year.
Fourth Form and Lower Sixth students do not sit formal exams, although departments will stage a number of assessments throughout the year, and especially towards the end of the Summer term. Further details of these assessments will be circulated by departments nearer the time.
Please do get in touch with your son or daughter’s tutor or the relevant Head of Department (see the list at the end of this document) if you have a specific query about key exams or assessments this year.
